Deputies with the Boone County Sheriff's Office arrested Eddie Wayne Carpenter, 30 years old, of Orgas, Tuesday afternoon (1/5/16).  Carpenter was originally arrested on a Family Court Warrant by Deputy Cottrell and booked at the Sheriff's Office.

 

Corporal Foster with the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Division of the Sheriff's Office had been investigating Carpenter in regards to having inappropriate contact with a fourteen (14) year old female.  Foster was able to develop enough probable cause to arrest Carpenter for having sexual intercourse with the juvenile female after Carpenter confessed to the crime.  His confession along with other evidence in the case led to criminal charges of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault, which had occurred recently.

 

If convicted of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault, Carpenter faces not less than one nor more than five years in prison and the possibility of a fine up to $10,000.
