Forfeiture Proceeds from Drug Trafficking Organization

Sheriff Randall White was invited to the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of West Virginia on Wednesday morning.  Acting US Attorney Carol Casto held a press conference in reference to over one million dollars being handed out to local police agencies.

Lieutenant Joshua Weagel and Deputy Brian Dotson had participated in an investigation into the A+ Care Pharmacy in Bourborsville, WV.  Throughout the course of the investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Internal Revenue Service, nineteen people were convicted of criminal offenses.  The main suspect was convicted of Structuring and officials from the IRS seized over two million dollars, a Lexus SUV and a home in Florida.

Weagel and Dotson's part in the investigation led to the Boone County Sheriff's Office receiving a large asset forfeiture from this case.  The pharmacy was responsible for flooding southern West Virginia with hundreds of thousands of prescription pain killers.  During the press conference, a check was presented to Sheriff White for $86,421.56.  These funds will be used to purchase equipment and supplies supplementing the law enforcement budget and assist the continuing fight against illegal drug dealers.
